I’ll be honest with you

Getting to this point wasn't easy

Upon starting my health and weight loss journey, I did not have the right foundations:

Growing up in a Middle Eastern household, food was love and it made you feel better when you had a hard day. 
The message was eat, and eat more... but don't get fat.
There was abuse and divorce with resulting trauma and CPTSD.
which led to an overweight body (I stopped weighing myself after 180 pounds)
dark nights of binge eating and constant obsession with food
relentless stress and anxiety
constant diet planning and continued self-sabotage
burnout (after turning to food, I turned to busy-ness and shopping to cope)
relationships where I always ran away
elevated blood sugars
chronic constipation
loss of my period
hypothyroid
even early pre-menopause...

I’ll be honest with you

Getting to this point wasn't easy

Upon starting my health and weight loss journey, I did not have the right foundations:

My education turned out to be a band-aid rather than my cure. I thought I would be able to get my health back. 

I knew what to do but very quickly learned that
knowing what to do and actually doing it are two very different things... 😭

But then...

I became I dietitian to try and 'fix myself.' I clearly didn't know how to eat.

❌ I learned that an apple was healthier than a candy bar...
but I still was not making the right choice. ❌

My education turned out to be a band-aid rather than my cure. 

I thought I would be able to get my health back. I knew what to do but very quickly learned that knowing what to do and actually doing it are two very different things... 😭

So I tried...

  • Tracking and counting calories only to say 'screw it' when I went over my allotment and ate all the things in hopes to be more perfect tomorrow.
  •  Paleo, WW, whole30 diet, and more, only to yo-yo with my weight.
  • Efforting healthy eating, planning on a calendar how much weight I'd lose each day to reach my goal only to feel so utterly restricted that I'd self-sabotage on Monday with a binge because of the feeling of restriction was too much.
  • ​Keto and straight up gained weight.
  • ​Overeaters anonymous only to learn I did not like to label myself for life, it just didn't resonate.
  • Talk therapy only to get frustrated I was repeating my story over and over.​
  • ​A trainer and got results, then gained all the weight back. 
I told myself:
There has to be a better way...

So I tried...

✅ I was able to exit survival mode as habit and be more present for my life, finally having more days of peace than stress and anxiety.
